Closing a Vector 3.
Please note that when closing a Vector 3, M-Series or Micron , the grommets of the No. 2 flap and the No. 3 flap should be offset - the best indication that this has been done properly is to ensure that the closing loop length is 1.5/8" (+/- 1/8") and that the binding tape of both side flaps is lined up, as per the attached illustration. The reason for this design is a further security innovation by the United Parachute Technologies - because the grommets are not stacked on top of each other there is less protrusion of the main flap pin cover thereby reducing the "snaggability" of the container. This design feature has been in use since the early Vector rigs. The early Vector rigs were more forgiving in regards to loop length, and would allow you to stack the grommets up without distorting any container flaps. The grommets on containers using spring loaded pilot chutes are also stacked on top of each other. This design is another innovation towards making the Vector 3 the "Fort Knox of container systems."
